Evergreen Lightningboltz Meeting Minutes

November 8, 2007

AGENDA/MINUTES

The agenda and Minutes from 8/16/07 meeting were distributed to the attendees.  All approved of the 8/16/07 meeting minutes.

BUDGET

Checking account balanced through 9/30/07.  Current balance is $7,065.  Since the district has paid for the foam for the pit, the approximate $2500 raised from fundraising for the foam can now be used elsewhere.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Construction completion has been pushed back to mid-late January.  The roof did not pass inspection – not up to code for snow load.  A $40,000 steel beam was required to support the roof.  The beam was delivered today, November 8th.

SURPLUS OF T-SHIRTS

We have a surplus of gymnastic t-shirts (especially small sizes).  An inventory needs to be taken and ideas are welcome regarding selling the shirts.

PICTURE BOARDS

Manya will coordinate this project - Possibly a collage for each gymnastics team.

CAR PEELS

This could be an excellent fundraiser.  There are literally tons of various car peels to choose from, including all imaginable sports.  We will start this fundraiser after the Christmas Holiday.

POINSETTIAS

Reminder that all orders are due November 13th.

EAGLES

We are still trying to incorporate more Eagle parents.

GOODIE BAGS FOR USAG

Eagles will make goodie bags for USAG 5/6.  Will need bags completed by 1st weekend in December.  We need 7 bags – typically averaging $8.00 of goodies per bag.

PERFORMANCE MEET

A performance meet at the High School would be a great fundraiser.  Shanna advised we are trying for an Eagles 07-08 meet at the High School.  This would be a good income-producer.  This has already been ok’d by the Eagles coaches.  We now need the ok from the High School, and will need to bid on a date for the meet.

FAMILY OUTING

Since we did not have a family picnic this year, we are looking for another family activity.  An evening at Buchanan Rec. Center was suggested.  This would include a pot-luck dinner, swimming, and rock-wall climbing - Possibly a weekday after the Holidays.

GROCERY CERTIFICATES

We need to get out information regarding Grocery Certificates - Possibly sending notices and an information sheet with monthly statements.  King Soopers has switched to cards instead of the paper certificates – can no longer get cash back.

COACHES’ BONUSES

Coaches’ bonuses were discussed and agreed upon.

MISCELLANEOUS

Extreme Sports – J.P. will be teaching an Extreme Sports class.  This will be open to 12 year olds and older.  The class will be held on Saturdays from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.

Gift Exchange - This year the gymnasts will be having a gift exchange – “Secret Snowman”.

Health - It was suggested that a physical therapist talk to the gymnasts about the importance of stretching and how to avoid injury in sports.

Shanna will also be sending home information regarding nutrition.

CongratulationsEvergreen High School Gymnastics Team placed 3rd at State.

Equipment Sale – Once again, gymnastics equipment can be ordered as a fundraiser.  See posted flyer regarding what is available – perfect Christmas gift for a gymnast.

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, February 7th.
